Awareness
The CIEH Level 2 Award in Hygiene
Awareness aims to provide anyone who works in a health and/or social care
setting with the basic knowledge and understanding necessary to prevent the
spread of infection. The qualification
provides an introduction to hygiene awareness and focuses on three key areas:
Hygiene Hazards
Personal Hygiene
Cleaning
The support materials focus on
the realities of health and social care practice and guide candidates in
applying knowledge of good hygiene to ensure that patients and clients are
treated in a safe, clean environment.
Who needs this qualification?
This qualification is aimed at
employees in the health and social care sector who may already have received
basic health and safety training, but would benefit from additional focused
training in hygiene hazards and controls. This will include people providing
care and those who provide cleaning and other support services in a broad range
of contexts – for example, in hospitals, nursing homes, care homes, patients’
/clients’ own homes, prisons, residential schools, etc.
Course duration
Three-hour training programme
Assessment
15-MCQ examination paper. Candidates who achieve a CIEH
Level 2 Award in Hygiene Awareness, will gain credit towards the CIEH Level 2
Award in Health and Safety in Health and Social Care and need only sit a 15-MCQ
examination paper and pass to achieve the second award.
