BIIAB National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors
BIIAB National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors
The National Certificate for Designated Premises Supervisors (NCDPS) is designed to provide existing designated premises supervisors, and those wanting to undertake the post in the future, with an understanding of their roles and responsibilities both within the Licensing Act and the many regulatory issues not covered by the Act.
Who is the course for?
New entrants or those currently working in licensed retail premises
Pubs and convenience stores
Bars and sports & social clubs
Hotels and entertainment establishments including nightclubs
Restaurants, casinos, off-licences and leisure parks
Any other venue where alcohol is sold
Unlike the National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders, the NCDPS is designed to address the more practical day-to-day issues involved in running a licensed premises. It covers key areas in relation to each of the licensing objectives, the basics of conducting a risk assessment, and how the designated premises supervisor can implement the operating schedule and demonstrate due diligence.
In addition the qualification is supported by a CD-ROM called the 'Licensed Premises Operation Review Tool' which will be included with the qualification handbook. The CD-ROM Tool enables the user to assess existing policies in licensed premises, suggests ways in which such policies can support the four licensing objectives and produces a record of these policies which may be saved and printed.
The course and the handbook have a practical focus. The handbook contains examples of floor plans and scenarios for three different types of licensed retail premises - a nightclub, a shop and a public house. From the information gleaned on the course and by using the handbook candidates will be able to apply a basic risk assessment to their premises and generate ideas for policies to reduce risks to an acceptable level.
This is a one day course, although candidates are advised to read the handbook, provided, prior to the course date. The assessment is by means of a 30 multi-choice question paper. Candidates need to achieve 24 correct answers to achieve a certificate.
The cost of the course is £141.00 all inclusive which includes the examination, course book and CD-ROM. Lunch is provided too.
