The aim of this one day course is to ensure that candidates understand why fire preventative measures and fire evacuation procedures are important and the necessity to respond to an emergency in a calm and dignified manner. The role of Fire Marshalls, their appointment and responsibilities will be discussed.
Objectives
By the end of the course the candidate will be able to:
Explain how fire starts and how the risk of fire can be minimised
Describe fire prevention measures
Illustrate fire protection arrangements
Explain the importance of fire doors
Describe what action to take if a fire is discovered
Demonstrate the procedures for dealing with a person whose clothes are alight
Describe evacuation and escape procedures
Explain the use of fire risk assessment
Describe the role of a Fire Marshall and their responsibilities
A certificate outlining the content of the course is issued to those taking part and for successful completion of the question paper that concludes the course. Where appropriate, a fire evacuation is walked through.
