Who is the course for?

  • New entrants or those currently working in licensed retail premises
  • Pubs and convenience stores
  • Bars and sports and social clubs
  • Hotels and entertainment establishments including nightclubs
  • Restaurants, casinos, off-licences and leisure parks
  • Any other venue where alcohol is sold

The course includes:

  • Licensing authorities – the roles, responsibilities, functions and objectives
  • Personal licences – including application process
  • The role and legal responsibilities of the personal license and the penalties relating to failure to comply with the law
  • The premises licence
  • Unauthorised licensable activities
  • The content and purpose of operating schedules
  • The responsible retail sale of alcohol
  • The specific prohibitions for the sale of alcohol 
  • The strengths of alcoholic drinks, and the effects of alcohol on the human body
  • Police powers with regard to suspension and closure of premises
  • Disorderly conduct on licensed premises 
  • Protection of children from harm
  • Rights of entry to licensed premises

How long does the course last?


A one day course 9.00am – 5:00pm concluding with a multi-choice examination. The cost of this course is £110.00 plus VAT.
