Today (5th November) we have entered lockdown 2.0 which means thousands of employees will be working from home again.
As an employer, you have the same health and safety responsibilities for home workers as for any other worker. While your employees are working from home you need to consider:
- How will you keep in touch with them?
- What work activity will they be doing (and for how long)?
- Can it be done safely?
- Do you need to put control measures in place to protect them?
The HSE’s guidance on Protecting Home Workers is a great place to start.
Remember that home working can affect your employees mental health and stress, so please do make sure you have the tools in place to identify signs of stress and mental illness early and can signpost appropriate support.
